A new Michelin-star tasting counter in San Francisco joins the Bay Area’s deep Filipino dining history.

The Bay Area’s Filipino food story is much larger than one fine-dining room. Daly City and South San Francisco hold bakeries, silog breakfasts, steam-table turo-turo, and family restaurants shaped by one of the country’s largest Filipino communities; newer chef-driven projects have appeared across San Francisco and the East Bay. This hub begins with Naides because its 2026 Michelin star marks a rare tasting-menu expression of Filipino cooking. It should be read as one format within that broader map, not as a replacement for the everyday restaurants that built it.
