About

Hasaki opened in 1984 on East Ninth Street as Bon Yagi’s first T.I.C. Restaurant Group address, named for his family’s hometown of Hasaki in Japan. It helped seed the East Village Little Tokyo that later added Sobaya and the wider T.I.C. portfolio around Ninth and Tenth Streets. The downstairs room is built around Edomae-style sushi and sashimi, à la carte nigiri and sets in the dining room or garden, and a sushi-bar omakase. Resy and the house list a twelve-piece counter omakase by chef Naoto Isoda at $96 per person, with optional sashimi and uni-caviar supplements; dining-room guests order off the regular menu. Eater has long filed it among East Village defining restaurants and approachable omakase lists; The Infatuation frames it as classic, mayo-free neighborhood sushi.
